Continuing to roll out his new chapter of music, multi-award winning Americana/alt-country artist Kyle McKearney unveils his project’s latest offering “Wedding Day,” available for streaming across platforms. The evocative track is a poignant reflection of love and longing, brought to life by McKearney’s signature style, and the undeniable talent of his backing band and production team.
In “Wedding Day,” McKearney teams up once again with writers Lydia Sutherland and Aaron Pollock to deliver a song steeped in emotional depth. The Métis artist’s soulful delivery captures a profound sense of yearning as he narrates the heartache of watching someone walk away, and down the aisle. The track continues McKearney’s collaboration with longtime bandmate and co-producer Russell Broom (Paul McCartney, Lindsay Ell, Jann Arden) and 6-time Grammy Award-winning mixing engineer Vance Powell (Chris Stapleton, Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson), weaving together the song’s rich sonic tapestry.
“This might be my favourite track from the new record,” McKearney shares. “It’s about sitting idle, watching someone else live your best life. The beat, the fiddle hook and the story are everything I strive for in a track. It’s gut wrenching with a glimpse of hope, kinda like life.”
The single is the second track released from McKearney’s upcoming third studio album, which has been co-produced by McKearney and Broom. His recent release “Broken Hearts Hide” introduced the project with an amplified country-rock sound, while maintaining the soul of his distinctive Americana roots. Finding numerous supporters across editorial playlisting and radio, “Broken Hearts Hide” vividly captures the impact of living through heartache as the raw emotion found in McKearney’s vocals beckon for answers in the heartbreak anthem of the summer.
The new project follows the breakout success of McKearney’s multi-award winning sophomore album A Traveler’s Lament, which took home the 2023 CCMA for Alternative Country Album of the Year, while also receiving 25 additional award nominations, 10 award wins, and was shortlisted for a 2024 GRAMMY Award nomination in the Best Regional Roots Album category. The album’s success catapulted McKearney from local bar performances to arena stages and major festival appearances across Canada. Following his first tour in the UK earlier this year, McKearney has begun to export his sound to fans across Europe and the US.
Fresh off a 2024 CCMA nomination for Creative Team or Designer of the Year, and in the midst of his summer tour, Kyle McKearney continues to be a force that turns heads in the Canadian country markets.
