Calgary country riser Alex Hughes returns today with “Take Me Home,” the new single and title track from her forthcoming debut EP, due May 29 via Phase Entertainment Group. Warm, heartfelt, and immediately transportive, the track sets the tone for the EP to come. Listen to “Take Me Home” HERE.
Written by Alex Hughes, Lydia Sutherland, Aaron Pollock, and Forrest Finn, and produced by Dan Swinimer (Madeline Merlo, Tyler Jo Miller, Jess Moskaluke), “Take Me Home” pairs Hughes’ radiant vocal presence with vivid imagery and an undeniable sense of longing. More than a love song, it’s about wanting to know someone fully — from the back roads they grew up on to the family stories that made them who they are.
“Take Me Home feels like driving down a back road with someone you’re so into it almost scares you,” shares Hughes. “It’s about wanting to know every little thing that makes them who they are, where they were raised, who raised them, and all the stories that shaped them. Getting to share a piece of my heart through this song means everything to me, and I hope people feel that when they hear ‘Take Me Home.’”
That emotional curiosity runs throughout the track. Built around images of winding roads, wildflowers, slow-moving time, and a desire to know someone from their head to their roots, “Take Me Home” captures the feeling of falling for someone deeply enough to want the full picture — not just who they are now, but where they come from and everything that shaped them.
The release also marks the official announcement of Hughes’ debut EP, Take Me Home. It arrives as her biggest statement to date, building on more than 350,000 global catalogue streams, major live appearances, and a growing reputation as one of Canadian country music’s most compelling emerging voices.
Already a two-time Country Music Alberta Award nominee this year for Horizon Female Artist of the Yearand Fans’ Choice, Hughes has also been selected to perform at the award show on March 22.
