ROBYN OTTOLINI channels post-breakup chaos into cinematic new single “If hell Were A Bar”

Platinum-selling, CCMA Award-winning country artist Robyn Ottolini turns one of the most universally uncomfortable moments, running into your ex, into a cinematic dose of reality with her new single, “If Hell Were A Bar,” available today. Written by Ottolini alongside Lauren Vale and John Frank, the song begins as a tongue-in-cheek take on what a hellish night at a bar might look like – think a busted jukebox and a rude bartender – but quickly shifts into something far more real: your ex walking in with someone new on their arm. Built around vivid, conversational lyrics and a standout hook, the track captures the spiral of forced small talk, fake smiles, and ordering that extra emotional support drink you didn’t plan on. It’s painfully specific yet instantly relatable, dropping listeners into a moment you wish you could escape, if only the song wasn’t so good.

“There’s nothing worse than running into your ex… until you run into them with someone new,” shares Ottolini. “‘If Hell Were a Bar’ takes that pit in your stomach feeling and drops you right into that moment where you’re trying to keep it together while everything’s spinning. It’s awkward, it’s painful, but it’s also about holding your head high and getting through it anyway. Sometimes hell isn’t just one place, it’s wherever you’re standing the moment you’re introduced to the life that was almost yours. But thank God it wasn’t, right?

The concept came together organically in the writing room. As Ottolini explains, “It’s personal in the sense that it’s relatable, we’ve all been through something like this. Lauren threw out the hook, and we started talking about what it’s like when you run into your ex and what the worst-case scenario would be if you were already having a bad night. It really came from a place of validating that experience for people.”
After achieving major career milestones over the past five years, Ottolini took time to recalibrate, returning with a renewed sense of purpose and now releasing music fully on her own terms. Following the viral success of “Growing Down,” which garnered more than 22,000 user generated videos of fans lip syncing the song’s opening line, she continues to carve out her lane with emotionally honest, story driven country music that resonates deeply with her audience.

“If Hell Were A Bar” serves as a key stepping stone in the rollout of a larger collection of music, showcasing Ottolini’s signature blend of vulnerability, wit, and real-life storytelling. With more music on the way, she continues to build her momentum as a distinctive voice in the genre, carving out a space that’s entirely her own.

About Robyn:
In country music, the very best narratives are almost always lifted from life’s messy playbook. Evocatively, sometimes playfully articulating everyday wins and losses is something of a songwriting super-power, and it’s one wholly possessed by the Nashville-based, platinum-selling artist, Robyn Ottolini.

Over five years, a quintet of EPs, and multiple dazzling singles, the trucker’s daughter from a blue-collar Canadian town has amassed more than 160 million streams – 60 million alone for her rip-snorting heartbreak smash “F-150,” which incinerated TikTok while cementing Ottolini’s status as a supremely relatable lyricist able to make the ordinary scan as extraordinary. Robyn is not only a CCMA Award winner, but has reached the #3 spot on Rolling Stones’ All Genre Viral Chart, and had three Top 40 singles on Billboard’s Canadian country chart. Ottolini has seen the likes of some of country music’s biggest festivals, and headlined shows across her native country, as well as opened up for Shania Twain, Tim McGraw, Breland and Tyler Rich, just to name a few.

Now, Ottolini is proudly independent and unrestrained, releasing a clutch of electrifying, lived-in originals. Her latest release, a demo of “Growing Down,” has already taken on a life of its own, after a minute-long clip sparked an explosive reaction on TikTok and fans connected instantly with its rawness and authenticity. The track’s momentum – fuelled by 22,000+ fan-created videos and a powerful wave of people sharing their own stories – is already outpacing the early numbers of “F-150.” The release follows last year’s fan-favourite “Airplane Bottle,” as Ottolini continues building toward her highly anticipated debut album.
