Coming off the biggest touring year of his career, celebrated, multi-PLATINUM entertainer Dean Brody is kicking off a new season with the release of an unexpected, tongue-and-cheek single, “Your Mama Would Hate Me.” Teaming up with longtime friends James Barker Band (JBB), the undeniably infectious single delivers an irresistible blend of Brody’s distinctive vocals and JBB’s energetic charisma, a combination that is sure to send it straight to the top of the charts.
“We really wanted to have some fun with this song,” said Brody of the track. “I think from the opening verse and presumptuous lyrics to the 70’s inspired artwork, it’s very clear that we aren’t taking ourselves too seriously on this one and sometimes that is exactly what you need.”
Reminiscent of Brody’s past record-setting party tracks like “Bring Down The House” (TRIPLE-PLATINUM) and “Can’t Help Myself” (DOUBLE-PLATINUM), “Your Mama Would Hate Me” is an anthem for everyone who unapologetically accepts themselves, understanding that the good and the bad is what makes them who they are. Written by Nashville icons Jake Mitchell, Nick Donley and Michael HARDY the new track is a cheeky nod to meeting your significant other’s parents for the first time, giving listeners a pump-up song for one of the most intimidating times of a serious relationship.
Throughout his decorated career, Brody has been dedicated to supporting Canadian artists, leveraging his platform to open doors for them at all levels. Having brought JBB on their first national tour in 2017, Brody has been a longtime advocate for the recent JUNO-award winning foursome. “I have been impressed with JBB since the very first time I met them and we’ve been trying to find the perfect song to collaborate on for years,” shares Brody. “The minute I heard this song I knew I wanted to record it and I love the energy that JBB brings to it. It’s turned out better than we could have imagined.”
After what was an unprecedented 2023 of touring and the release of his ninth album Right Round Here, Brody recently kicked off 2024 by landing his ninth #1 at Canadian country radio with the title-track off that album. He also just added another PLATINUM single to his collection with “Where’d You Learn How To Do That,” rounding out his already 24 GOLD, 10 PLATINUM, 4 DOUBLE PLATINUM and 1 TRIPLE PLATINUM singles.
