Award-winning Canadian country-rocker Devin Cooper is proudly stepping into his next chapter with the announcement of his highly anticipated double album Good Things: Deluxe Edition, due September 6, 2024. Releasing his debut album, Good Things in 2022, Cooper realized that he was not ready to close the door on this chapter just yet. The 22-track double album will take listeners on a journey that started in 2022 and ends with an introspective look into the heart and soul of Cooper’s artistry two years later with live-off the floor versions of each of his standout tracks. This album is a celebration of resilience and love and serves as a testament that good things are worth the wait.
“I’m beyond excited to finally share with you the Good Things: Deluxe Edition. The lyrics from the title track, ‘they take a little longer than you might think’ have truly come full circle on this release,” explains Cooper. “The songs on this album have been an exploration of my life’s journey, the ups and downs, the good and bad, and everything in between – while learning and remembering to enjoy the process. It took a while for me to fully tell this story, but, you know what they say about Good Things.”
Building on the success of Cooper’s 2022 debut album, the deluxe album will take listeners on an emotional ride, as Cooper exposes his vulnerability through both the produced tracks and the raw, live acoustic versions. Creating a once-in-a-lifetime experience for 45 of his biggest fans and supporters, Cooper recorded the live acoustic version of his tracks at OCL Studios (Calgary) with a live audience present. “This album would not have been possible without my fans and I’m so glad that they were included in the creation of this project,” says Cooper.
The live version of “Wanted Man,” recorded during this session, was released today to celebrate Cooper’s new album.
Produced by JUNO Award-winning friends and partners Spencer Cheyne and Justin Kudding, Good Things: Deluxe Edition is a masterful showcase of Cooper’s signature country rock, seamlessly blending the grit of southern rock with the authenticity of country storytelling. Cooper was able to come together with some of his closest friends to write this album as well as collaborate with Alberta-born musicians, including drummer Shane Gaalass (SLASH, Yngwie Malmsteen, B’z in Japan) who brought his rock ‘n roll flair to help the album come to life. Whether it’s the nostalgia of “Good Things,” the determination in “Underdog,” or the introspection of “Dying To Be Seen,” each song on the album tells a unique story and encourages listeners to appreciate the journey and to find strength in their own stories.
