Multi-award-winning Americana artist Kyle McKearney delivers his most defining body of work to date with the release of his highly anticipated third studio album, To The River. Bold, cinematic, and deeply personal, the 13-song collection finds McKearney at the height of his creative powers, blurring the lines between Americana, country, and rock while grounding every track in raw, soul-baring storytelling.
The album’s focus track, “Skeletons,” offers one of McKearney’s most poignant moments – a haunting, slow-burner about what it means to be truly seen. The track leans into the freedom that comes with being loved because of your darkness, not in spite of it; finding the kind of connection that doesn’t flinch at your flaws. Anchored by McKearney’s aching vocal delivery and set against a sparse, moody backdrop, “Skeletons” is a testament to vulnerability, and the power of being accepted exactly as you are.
To The River was co-produced by McKearney and longtime collaborator Russell Broom, and mixed by GRAMMY Award winner Vance Powell (Chris Stapleton, Beyoncé). Across the record, McKearney leans into themes of surrender, family, identity, and connection – exploring his Métis heritage and grounding his lyrics in a strong sense of place.
“The album has been such a treat to make,” he shares. “I checked so many big things off of my bucket list. From having Vance Powell mix it to writing some of my most personal songs. I’ve discovered that there is a theme of surrender and redemption. As I get older, I become more and more aware of the value of the time that we get on this earth and of how important it is to live our truth and to say I love you. This record sings of family, hardship, my home in Alberta, and of the things that connect us all.”
The album features standout singles like fan favourite “Wedding Day,” “Broken Hearts Hide,” “Tomorrow” – which scored a major sync on the Heartland season finale – and “Alberta, Save My Soul,” which helped raise over $11K for wildfire relief efforts. It continues to affirm McKearney’s place as one of Canada’s most compelling and genre-defying voices.

Today also marks the kick off of McKearney’s Western Canadian release tour, beginning with two back-to-back sold-out shows at Calgary’s iconic King Eddy before heading across BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan throughout May.
With To The River, McKearney doesn’t just evolve – he arrives, delivering a career-defining album that cements his place at the forefront of modern Americana. For more information and to purchase tickets to his Western Canadian tour, visit www.imkylemckearney.com.
