LECADE Drowns His Pain In “Liquor & Cigarettes”

Country newcomer LECADE is continuing his streak of deeply personal songs that take a brutally honest look inward with his new offering “Liquor & Cigarettes,” out today via Big Machine Records. In the track, written by LECADE alongside Jake Banfield and Brandon Manley, a heartbroken narrator is acknowledging the less-than-healthy crutches they’ve been leaning on amid an ugly breakup.

“I wrote ‘Liquor & Cigarettes’ in mid-2023, so it’s been a long time coming,” shares LECADE. “It’s been amazing to see it all come together over that time, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how the fans react to it. It’s one of my favorite tracks I’ve been a part of and I’m really proud of it.”

The pills, alcohol and cigarettes the narrator uses to cloak the memory of the lost lover provides sweet relief for a while, but, after repeated use, the effect of the vices wane and the narrator is forced to confront their strong, messy feelings head on. The song has LECADE’s staple grungy Pop/Country sound while offering fans a slower, softer track than ever before. “Liquor & Cigarettes” follows the releases of “ultra catchy” (Today’s Country Magazine) “Glass,” “You Get Me” and “Bed We Made.”

With more than 3M monthly listeners and 100M streams globally to date, LECADE is just getting started. He will embark on his LIQUOR & CIGARETTES TOUR later this month where he’ll make stops in Cincinnati, OH (11/15), Peoria, IL (11/16), Sarasota, FL (11/21), Tallahassee, FL (11/22), Wichita, KS (11/27) and Florence, SC (12/28). ABOUT LECADE: Splitting his upbringing between Winfield, Louisiana, and Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Cade Brinkley, better known as LECADE grew up watching his dad play in dives and legendary honky tonks (like Tootsies) across the south with his band. Falling in love with music at such an early age, LECADE began consuming music of all kinds before converting from an avid listener to a creator himself. In high school he began creating music in his bedroom by buying beats from YouTube creators and writing lyrics over them—which caught the attention of Nashville and TikTok alike. Now, the Country artist is determined to be the next to defy genres, successfully marrying Pop-Country with just enough Hip-Hop style. Averaging more than 3 million monthly listeners, he is growing his streams and has accumulated more than 100 million streams to date. With his unique, yet somehow familiar vibe, made for mainstream and outlaw Country fans alike, LECADE has produced his song “Next Town Over,” his popular single “When I’m Gone” and songs from his debut Country album, Chasing Ghosts. Now signed to Big Machine Records, LECADE is currently in the studio working on new music. His new song “Liquor & Cigarettes” follows the releases of three other tracks earlier this year: “ultra catchy” (Today’s Country Magazine) “Glass,” “You Get Me” and “Bed We Made.”
