Photos by Orest Dorosh – Dayna Reid is a Canadian country artist from Elmvale, Ontario. She first gained attention after winning the Magna Hoedown Showdown in 2019, which included mentorship from celebrated artist Beverley Mahood. This competition marked the start of her professional journey in music. Before pursuing a music career, Reid worked with children and adults with autism, inspired by her younger brother who is on the spectrum.
In 2022, Dayna signed with Open Road Recordings and released her debut EP, Back to the Trailer, featuring tracks like “She’s Me,” which became her first Top-40 hit and earned her the title of iHeart Radio’s “Future Star.” Known for blending the storytelling style of 1990s and early 2000s country music with personal narratives, she has cited Dolly Parton as a major influence. In 2023, she gained further recognition as a semi-finalist in SiriusXM’s Top of the Country contest and opened for artists like Tim Hicks and The Hunter Brothers.
Dayna continues to develop her career, releasing music like her single “This House,” co-written with Beverley Mahood, while staying true to her small-town roots and authentic voice.
