MACKENZIE CARPENTER  Teams Up With Midland For New Track “I Wish You Would”

Rising Country singer/songwriter Mackenzie Carpenter teams up with GRAMMY-nominated trio Midland for their new charming and flirtatious duet “I Wish You Would (ft. Midland),” out today via The Valory Music Co. The track captures the story of two bar patrons whose undeniable chemistry draws them together in a Country dive. With its mix of twangy guitars, steady drumbeats and masterful vocals from Carpenter and Midland’s Mark Wystrach, the song sets the perfect mood for a night brimming with excitement and possibility. Written by Carpenter alongside Jonathan Hutcherson, Jamie Moore and Chris Tompkins, the track overflows with anticipation from the couple who are secretly begging the night to stretch on so they can continue to surrender to the spark between them.

“‘I Wish You Would (ft. Midland)’ is a fun, flirty tune about wanting someone to be more forward, quit guessing and make the first move. It’s about craving a spark with someone and longing for more than a few glances with that person you’ve noticed from across the bar,” shares Carpenter. “Midland has always been a dream collaboration, and they bring a smooth classic vibe to the song.”

“I loved ‘I Wish You Would’ from the jump when Mackenzie and Jamie Moore sent it our way. When I went to lay my part, I was thrown back in time to the era of Conway and Lorretta Lynn and Kenny and Dolly iconic duets,” adds Midland’s Mark Wystrach. “The melodies are hypnotic, and the soaring hook is pure Country gold. The structure of the song is non-symmetrical, so it keeps revealing new sonic surprises leaving you wanting to hear it again and again.”

“I Wish You Would (ft. Midland)” follows the release of the “sardonic and really, really fun” (MusicRow) “Dozen Red Flags” last month and the announcement of Mackenzie’s debut album Hey Country Queen, which American Songwriter says “promises more of what has earned her recognition so far: wit, relatability, and an ability to write a killer melody.” Slated for March 7, the album aims to give fans a deeper view of her multi-dimensional talents while paying homage to the beloved Country Queens in her life that paved the way for her to speak her mind, write her truth and have some fun along the way. Mackenzie is a co-writer on all 13 tracks on the album which features additional writing credits from award-winning talent like Liz Rose, Nicolle Galyon and Jessie Jo Dillon.
