Chart-topping, multi-PLATINUM duo The Reklaws are kicking off a busy weekend with the release of their highly-anticipated new single, “I Grew Up On A Farm.” A heartfelt ode to their rural upbringing and a nod to their deep-seated connection with country life, the single opens a new chapter for The Reklaws taking them back to where their musical journey began. Today’s release also carries the pair into their NHL All-Star Weekend debut as they prepare to take the stage tomorrow night to perform the national anthem at the game in Toronto.
“Sharing this song with everyone today is about moving into the next season of our story while at the same time reminding ourselves why we started making music in the first place. We have a newfound confidence to share our story after our journey these past few years and we’re so grateful to all of you who have stood by our side each and every day,” shared Jenna Walker.
“This single is for anyone who, like us, grew up in a small town with a love of country music. We are farm kids at heart, spending our early years on the Yee Haw Adventure Farm with our siblings and parents. So it’s a tribute to the simple joys and lessons learned there, as well as the pride we have of that upbringing,” continued Stuart Walker.
The songwriting process for “I Grew Up On A Farm” was a reunion for the duo as they teamed up with their close-knit group of friends who have been a constant in their lives over the years. Together Jenna & Stuart (The Reklaws), Khalid Yassein (Wild Rivers), Scott Helman, Emily Reid and Callum Maudsley, created a powerful anthem that encapsulates the authenticity of their rural roots and celebrates the values and experiences that shaped them into the artists they are today.
After an incredible 2023 that included multiple JUNO nominations, hosting the CCMA Awards and winning Top Selling Canadian Album at the Awards as well as landing their fourth #1 at Canadian country radio, The Reklaws are already set to have a landmark 2024.
Kicking off the year, the duo added another notch to their songwriting accolades scoring their fifth #1 as writers with “Right Round Here” performed by celebrated Canadian artist Dean Brody. With today’s release, they mark the start of a year of new music and some big surprise moments that the pair can’t wait to share with fans. This weekend The Reklaws will check another item off their bucket list as they take the stage at the NHL All-Star Game in Toronto to sing the Canadian national anthem.
The award-winning duo will also hit the road this summer, taking stages at shows and festivals across Canada and the U.S. including already announced stops at Big Valley Jamboree, Sunfest Country Music Festival and Country Thunder Alberta with many more to come.
KEEP UP WITH THE REKLAWS
