After the success of his groundbreaking endeavour with The Compass Project, multi-platinum, 3x JUNO Award winning country entertainer Brett Kissel is not slowing down anytime soon with the announcement of his new single “Let Your Horses Run,” set for release May 3.
Co-written with Nashville heavy weight Jesse Frasure, Kissel’s latest offering heralds the dawn of a new chapter of music. “Let Your Horses Run” gallops forth with an intensity that is both invigorating and inspiring, showcasing Kissel’s evolution as a songwriter and performer. With a profound sense of reflection, this track represents a zenith of artistic maturity for Kissel, underscored by what may be his most compelling vocal performance to date.
“Horses is a powerful song,” Kissel shares. “It’s really an advice song for anyone ready to take on the next big leap in their life, explaining that you can be a force of nature if you want to be, and you can be unstoppable if you put your mind to something that inspires. Words like ‘bust down the gate’ or ‘you can’t tie an anchor to a freight train’ are all metaphors for life. And to be perfectly honest, I wrote it with my kids in mind. Knowing one day they’ll be teenagers ready to chase their dreams – these are the words and thoughts I would share with them… ‘Let your horses run.’”
Kissel’s new music comes on the heels of his incredibly successful Compass Tour, which saw sold out crowds from coast to coast across Canada. The Compass Tour was the live companion of The Compass Project – a four-part album experience that showcases various themes, and Kissel’s versatility as a musician and songwriter. The project’s JUNO Award nominated first album South Album showcased Kissel’s signature style of commercial country hits, including the lead track “Never Have I Ever” which has amassed over ten million global streams and climbed the charts at Canadian country radio. He then released East Album, a heartfelt collection of stripped down, acoustic songs that was inspired by Kissel’s love of Canada’s east coast, and featured a new level of emotional depth in his songwriting. The compass swung to West Album earlier this fall, paying tribute to his deepest musical and thematic passions – the rich tradition of country and western music. Wrapping up with North Album, Kissel gave fans his greatest collection of hits live from the stage.
Never away from the stage for too long, Kissel is gearing up for a busy summer festival season, hitting stages across Canada, with even more dates to be announced.
