LIVE PICS // DALLAS SMITH at Meadows Music Festival in Fergus ON

Photos by Orest Dorosh – Dallas Smith is a highly accomplished Canadian singer and songwriter who famously transitioned from fronting a multi-platinum rock band to becoming one of the most dominant forces in modern Canadian country music. Born in Langley, British Columbia, Smith first achieved international prominence in the early 2000s as the lead vocalist of the post-grunge/hard rock band Default. The group’s 2001 debut album, The Fallout, earned a JUNO Award and featured the massive cross-border hit “Wasting My Time.” After a decade of touring and releasing rock radio staples, Smith shifted his focus southward and re-emerged as a solo country artist, signing with Big Loud Records and releasing his country debut, Jumped Right In, in 2012.

Armed with one of the most powerful and recognizable vocal registers in the genre, Smith quickly shattered industry records in his solo career. He stands as the record holder for the most number-one hits among male Canadian artists on the Billboard Canada Country chart, racking up an impressive string of chart-toppers like “Tippin’ Point,” “Wastin’ Gas,” and “Side Effects.” His cross-genre appeal, arena-ready live shows, and collaborative work with renowned producer Joey Moi have earned him a massive global streaming audience and multiple CCMA Awards—including a rare three consecutive Entertainer of the Year wins—solidifying his legacy as a true trailblazer in Canadian music.
